In the UK we have a diverse society. There are people from many different backgrounds and cultures. There are also changes taking place in the number of men and women in the population. Tesco recognises that every person is different and will bring unique talents and experiences to a role.
A diverse workforce brings many benefits. It can make a workforce more flexible and improve performance. The Welsh assembly’s Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler has voiced concerns that more women need to be elected to ensure the assembly reflects the population more accurately. Mrs Butler believes men and women working together leads to better policies (BBC, 27th January 2013).
