Supermarket giant Tesco are set to release their own-brand smartphone by the end of the year, competing with the likes of Apple, HTC and Samsung, among others. The phone, it’s believed, will run Google’s Android software with a similar specification to Samsung’s Galaxy S5.
So what sets this phone apart from the rest? Each unit will come pre-installed with Tesco’s competitive services and company specific apps. While the phone is expected to be comparable to the top-end of the market, it will be ‘aggressively priced’.
The smartphone follows the launch of Tesco’s self branded tablet in 2013, the HUDL which has sold half a million units. (BBC News, 6th May 2014)
